Assessment measures content, process, and skills. It is also a reflective and informative tool for teachers and students as it measures student growth and informs responsive teaching. Assessment includes those which are formative (e.g., universal screenings, DRP, DRA, PSAT) and summative (e.g., end of unit assessments, Smarter Balanced, NGSS, CT SAT School Day).
Avon Public Schools is committed to rigorous, comprehensive, and innovative programs. One way this commitment is realized is through a strong standards-based curriculum which promotes student engagement, critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and the transfer of learning to unique or real world situations.
