Hello students and families,

The School Counseling Office sent out important grade-specific updates via email. A copy of the email sent is available here. Please be sure to check your email regularly, as we will be continuing to send updates to you during this time.

Please remember that your school counselors are here to support you. Please send your counselor an email, schedule a virtual meeting, or schedule a phone call to let us know how you are doing and how we can assist you.

Hello students,

Happy Friday! We hope you are all doing well. We have a few important updates and reminders for you:

  • High School Course Override Forms Deadline - As a reminder to all students, the deadline for override forms to be turned into the school counseling office is Friday, May 1, 2020. Override forms are available by scheduling a meeting with your school counselor.  You can turn your form in by scanning or taking a picture of your form and emailing it to your school counselor after your parent has emailed with the recommending teacher and cc’d your school counselor.

  • Naviance Updates - Naviance has announced some updates that will help you with your college search. For more information, click here to read their announcement.

  • Virtual College Fairs - Several companies are offering virtual college fairs this year. These fairs will provide you with information on the application process, financial aid, programs, and more.

    1. Navigate 2020 - Virtual College Fair & Conference. May 4 - 6 from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM. This will provide information on the impact of COVID-19 on the admission process, financial aid and financial award programs how to balance the application, multicultural, first generation, and accessibility/disabilities resources on college campuses, how to find the best college fit and chose your major, and what to expect the first year on campus.

    2. Strive Virtual College Exploration. April 20 - May 8.  This will provide three weeks of virtual presentations for juniors to explore college opportunities. Students will have the opportunity to hear tips from admission officers, gain important college knowledge through 300+ presentations and information sessions, attend 200+ college information sessions, and learn about 450+ colleges and universities from 43 states and 13 countries.

2019 Career Expo

On Wednesday, March 27th, the Avon High School Counseling Department, in conjunction with the ACHIEVE Internship program, hosted the annual Career Expo. Freshman and sophomores attended a career panel discussion, completed a career assessment with their school counselor, and interviewed local professionals.  We were excited to host over forty professionals this year!
