Welcome to Avon PTO

Welcome new and returning families to Avon High School! The AHS PTO Board is very excited about the upcoming school year. We invite you to join us in fulfilling our mission to enhance and enrich Avon High School students’ four-year experience through quality programming and community engagement.

PTO involvement can take many forms: providing financial support, attending PTO meetings, and/or volunteering to help with or lead a program or event such as teacher appreciation and Project Graduation. Thank you to those who have already volunteered to chair several of our committees. We hope to increase our communication with the community this year, so watch for our quarterly PTO updates and follow us on Facebook.

Even before the first day of school, the PTO was hard at work supporting AHS’s signature event, GO Avon.  On Tuesday, August 27th, incoming freshmen and transfer students were welcomed to Avon High School in style at GO Avon, an exciting orientation program launched 5 years ago by the PTO that changes the way we introduce students to AHS. This year, the PTO provided substantial financial and volunteer support to the AHS Counseling Department and student leaders who were in charge of making this event an engaging and fun welcome to new students. The PTO also bought class banners for all 4 classes to use at pep rallies and other times. Keep an eye out — you may even spy them hanging in the front lobby.

The PTO will have a table in the lobby during Open House on Thursday, September 5th. Come talk to us about the good things the PTO is planning for this year like support for new homecoming activities and Project Graduation (we plan this amazing party all year!). You will also be able to contribute to our One and Almost Done campaign that night via cash, check or credit card. 100% of the money we raise goes back into supporting the AHS school community. The more money we raise, the more we can do for the school.

We also invite you to join us at our first PTO meeting on Friday, September 6th at 7:45 am in the AHS Community Room. We will hold a mix of morning and evening meetings this year. Those dates will be posted on the PTO page of the AHS website. We hope you’ll attend one or more of these meetings. They are a great way to feel like a part of our school community and be aware of what is going on in the school. We always welcome input from parents or guardians at our meetings!

We look forward to an exciting school year and hope you will join us in our efforts to make it an amazing one for all Avon High School students.  You can start now by filling out the attached One and Almost Done form. Feel free reach out to any member of the board if you have any questions or input about the PTO and what we do.

The Avon High School PTO Mission is…

to work with AHS parents, guardians, faculty and staff to enhance the experience of AHS students by providing quality, enriching educational programs; creating open lines of communication; and facilitating the involvement of all parties in the planning and execution of school programs and events. The organization strives to:

  • encourage an exchange of ideas and information among educators, parents/guardians, and students through meetings, print and e-communications, and events.
  • promote interest and awareness of the AHS curriculum, facilities, staff, and community through regular meetings and communications.
  • raise funds to financially support programs, resources, services, and equipment (not covered by the Board of Education budget) that enrich students’ school experience.

The AHS PTO is administered by an executive committee and all meetings are open to the public. Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to attend meetings to share ideas, suggestions and/or concerns. All money raised by the PTO is invested in school programs and resources.

Connect with AHS PTO and AHS Parents with Konstella!

Konstella is a communication channel for parents of school-aged children. This website/app allows parents to efficiently reach other parents and participate in school-wide discussions and activities. Avon High School PTO will have a secure site that can only be accessed by verified members of our school community. Konstella acts as an electronic directory through your phone. You will easily have directory information at your fingertips on your smartphone or tablet as well as on your home computer (there will be no paper directory produced this year).

Please use the link below to register on your computer (then you download the free app for phone access!). The initial registration has to be completed on a desktop and not through the app.

1.Type this URL into your address bar (or copy and paste) https://www.konstella.com/cd/xjg05i (that is lowercase x j g then number zero then 5 then lowercase i as in igloo)

2. Enter your email in the provided space

3. You will be sent an invitation email.

4. Follow the directions in the email to complete your registration

You can also go directly to konstella.com and search for Avon High School. Finally, if you have already registered with Konstella for another school, be sure to use the same email address. Konstella will automatically link all of your schools.

If you have any questions or problems connecting, contact Carol Shubinski at carolanddan@comcast.net

Project Graduation

Project Graduation is an alcohol- and drug-free all-night graduation celebration for our high school seniors and is modeled after a national initiative.  The mission of Project Graduation is to save young lives by providing a safe celebration on graduation night.

Project Graduation is more than a one-night event… it’s a time for parents, our schools, local businesses and our community to come together to create a caring and supportive environment for our seniors. It takes many, many volunteers countless hours to plan and run this fun-filled evening. Parents of both seniors and underclassmen are strongly encouraged to get involved. We need the support of our whole school community, especially since families with seniors are very busy on graduation day.

If you have a little time or a lot and would like to help out, there are a variety of ways that you can assist. Please reach out to the Project Graduation chair Wanda Dawiczyk at wdawiczyk@comcast.net to be a part of this fabulous event!
