SCHOOL CULTURE / CLIMATE COUNCIL

Charge of the Council

 

Organization Structure:  The Council (not a Board of Education subcommittee) Officers will be appointed by the Board of Education. 

Membership:  Will include representation from students, parents, staff, administrators and other stakeholders as selected pursuant to a process developed and implemented by the Central Administration.

Meeting Schedule:  Quarterly

I am proposing the specific tasks associated with this Council to be as follows:

  1. Review all existing anti-discrimination, diversity and school climate and culture policies of the Board of Education.
     
  2. Review/research anti-discrimination, diversity and school climate and culture policies from other local, state and national school districts and academics.
     
  3. Interview stakeholders from other local, state and national school districts regarding best practices in the areas of anti-discrimination, diversity and school climate and culture.
     
  4. To hold public meetings to solicit comment from the public.
     
  5. Present best practices in the areas of anti-discrimination,
    diversity and school climate and culture for consideration by the Central Administration.
     
  6. Prepare a summary of the advisory Council’s work that will include a summary of the best practices submitted for consideration by the Central Administration and the district’s leadership team for possible implementation.
     
  7. Identify possible grants for which the district may be eligible to assist with the work of the Council.
