2012-13 Sports Information Spring Season:

Boys Tennis won their 3rd consecutive state championship
SPRING FOOTBALL - starts June 10 and will end June 22.
Spring Football Blue / White Scrimmage - June 22 at 1:00 PM
Fall Sports:
Football will start conditioning week on Aug. 19 with the first contact practice being on Aug. 24.
Most other sports will start on Aug. 24.
All paperwork is due prior to the first practice:
Physical with proper date, Permission slips, and Emergency contact forms.

Volleyball - 8/24 form 8:00 am - 3:00 pm in the AHS Main Gym / 8:00-10:00 All Players: physical ability testing.
10:00-12:00 - Vetern players (having 1 year/more experience) drill/ skills evaluation
12:00-3:00 - Rookie players (freshman/1st year) skill instructional session
Girls Soccer - 8/24 9:00 am - 1:00 at Fisher Meadows / Mon-Wed - 3:15-5:15 @ Fisher Meadows (own transportation)
Boys Cross Country - Optional practice on 8/24 @ 10:00am at the AHS track. 8/25 - optional practice at 10:00 AM /
1st mandatory practice with be on 8/26 @ 2:30 at the AHS Track
Girls Cross Country - 8/26 @ 3:00 pm at the AHS Track
Field Hockey - 8/24 - 9:00 am - 12:00 / Lunch and Pool Party 12:30 - 2:00 / Afternoon 2:15 - 4:15

Football - 8/19 conditioning week - 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Crew - The following Varsity 4 girls won the state championship in their event:
coxswain - Megan Boos, rowers - Delaney Schrenk, Katey Carpenter, Makenzi Paluso, and Anna McCormick.
The Varsity 4 Boy's place 5th in the states:
coxswain - Derek Pang, rowers - Caleb Paul, Kian Rossitto, Mitchell Pastizzo, and Nick Shillington
Marissa Grillo - Avon High School is honored to announce that Marissa has accepted an offer from Boston College and Coaches Poutre and Coach Kayser to be a team member of their NCAA Division I Women's Golf Team.
Makenzi Paluso - Avon High School is honored to announce that Makenzi has accepted an offer from the Merrimack College and Head Coach Tim Desrosiers to be a team member of their NCAA Division II Women’s Crew Team. Makenzi will be receiving her formal NHl agreement in April.
Avon High School - CIAC Michaels Achievement Cup Recipient
It is with great pleasure and pride that we inform you that our school has been selected as a CIAC Michaels Achievement Cup Recipient (L division) for its athletic accomplishments during the 2011-12 school year. This award is now under the jurisdiction of the CIAC with a new direction which recognizes schools who continually provide exemplary athletic programs. The CIAC defines "exemplary" as athletic participation, academic success, equitable opportunities, trained and professional personnel, chemical-free programs and environment for athletic achievement, and a clear sense of sportsmanship marked by high ethical and moral standards. General Information:
Busses will normally leave the High School at 2:45pm and practices for our off site teams with practice being held generally from 3:00 - 5:00.div>
TeTeams practicing on site - practices will normally be from 2:30 - 4:30.
Vacations:
Student Athletes must realize that they are expected to participate in every practice and contest during the regular season. Parents should avoid scheduling family vacations during your son or daughters athletic season. Athletes who do miss practices or contests due to vacations or other activities should expect to have playing time altered. Coaches will address this with their teams.
Accessing Interior School Area:
Anyone entering the Avon High School and accessing areas that are closed, may be subject to administrative discipline and police action. There are no interior athletic facilities open to the public or the student body unless approved by the administation with supervision provided. Police take notice.
Home Game Prices:
Admission to all games: $5 per adult and $3 per student/senior citizen
Transporting Athletes:
Any parent wanting to transport their child to or from an athletic event where a bus has been provided must contact the coach, explain the emergency, and obtain a parental form (click forms on the left menu). One copy of this form must be submitted to the Athletic Department with another copy going to the coach.

Choose FORMS from the left menu to download the form which must be submitted, with payment, ten days after the first practice. If an individual or a family cap occurs, it is required to submitt the form with the cap indicated.
Tryouts:
The following 3 documents must be turned into coaches by day 1 of tryouts. Coaches CANNOT allow any student to play unless they complete and hand in these documents:div>
1-Sports Physical pass can be obtained from the nurses if you have an up-to-date physical on file with their office. Download the SPORTS EXAM FORM from the FORMS folder on the left menu and bring it to the nurse's office.
2-Permission Form can be downloaded from the FORMS folder on the left menu.
3-3-Emergency Card can be downloaded from the FORMS folder on the left menu.
